It was clear enough that Mosley had a plain advantage over his opponent in the speed area as he was trying to work on with his diminished skills. In the second round, Mayorga’s technique was never good but was atrocious. His footwork was a debacle and his first complaint came at about 50 seconds later on a shot to the hip. Mayorga got hurt from the right hand shot from Mosley. Despite that, Mosley kept on landing right hands with no attempt to resist from Mayorga and unluckily missed a left hook. Round 3 seemed tough for Mayorga as he was pleading for water between rounds. Surprisingly it appeared that he was not there for fight but to cash a check. At this point, Mosley decided to actually show up in shape to fight. It was Mosley’s superior hand speed that led to a moderately obvious advantage through this round. All that left Mayorga frustrated but he looked to motivate himself by deciding to draw from some of his bravado and antics, shouting at Mosley and making motions to his own genitalia in a failed attempt to get into Mosley’s head.
In round 4, Mosley looked annoyed, not with his opponent’s nonsense, but with the verity that he was not getting a real fight from him. He got another chance to land a couple more shots on Mayorga. It was clear that Mayorga was just trying to go long enough in the fight to avoid embarrassing himself on paper. In the fifth round, Mosley started by considerably slowing down. He was seen to be in control of the fight; however, his age was beginning to show. He later cracked Mayorga with another right hand shot that hurt him again. The hard jab from Mosley made his opponent shake a bit again. In the sixth frame, Mayorga had a chance of landing a combination of shots that made Mosley stumble a bit. Surprisingly, it looked that as if the momentum was shifting into Ricardo Mayorga’s favor, but Mosley proved that he truly deserved the win by quickly landing the liver shot that spelled the end for his opponent.
