Tyrone Clinton Spong (born September 3, 1985 in Paramaribo, Suriname) is a Surinam-Dutch Muay Thai fighter, boxer and mixed martial arts fighter.

His Career
In 1990, at the age of 5, Spong immigrated to the Netherlands. He grew up in Amsterdam, was often involved in street fighting and started kickboxing at a gym when he was 13. In his first Muay Thai match, he was 15 years old and won by K. o. In the first round. In 2003, his first year as a professional, he won 12 fights this year. In 2004 he fought in the Battle of Zaandam against Rafi Zouheir and won his first European Muay Thai title (World Kickboxing Network).

Nicknamed King of the Ring, he became world champion and Muay Thai cruiserweight champion in the WFCA organization and in 2008 became It’s Showtime champion in the class up to 95 lbs.

He qualified for the K-1 World Grand Prix Final 2010 and defeated the veteran Ray Sefo in a tournament. In the quarterfinals, he lost to eventual winner Alistair Overeem.

In 2013, he became Glory 95-kilogram slam champion, having received Danyo Ilunga by technical K.o. defeated in 16 seconds in the final. [2]

In his kickboxing career he won against big competitors like Kaoklai Kaennorsing, Zabit Samedov, Kyoto Fujimoto, Melvin Manhoef, Peter Aerts and Remy Bonjasky.

In 2015, he stepped back from kickboxing to start in professional boxing. By February 24, 2018, he scored 11 wins without defeat, winning all bouts prematurely and winning WBC titles and WBA Latino heavyweight.
