Yesterday night in Las Vegas, “Showtime” Shawn Porter put on a good show as he dominated Adrien “The Problem” Broner to clutch a unanimous decision victory in a non-title fight that saw the two welterweights battle it out for money and supremacy. The fight was held at the MGM grand garden arena.
Porter was the clear winner, but there was some controversies in the 12th round as Broner tried to compensate for the fact that he was going down for sure by leveling porter with a wide open left hand in the first minute of the final round.

Although Porter seemed ok, he still had more than two minutes to survive as Broner came at him with everything he had. But Porter, who was in top form managed to ward off in the crucial last minute to secure the unanimous decision.

All three judges had it for Porter: 118-108, 115-111 and a surprisingly close 114-112. The crowd which was evidently pro Porter cheered on as the judges announced their decision.
The fight was contested at maximum weight of 144 pounds, as per Broner’s demand. This was there pounds less than the normal welterweight limit.

Porter (26-1-1, 16 KOs),
with the crowd on his side, started fast and clearly hurt Broner (30-2, 25 KOs) in the first round when he landed three left hands and sent Broner into the ropes. Broner had to hold on as he tried to collect himself. That became the pattern of the fight. He pressed the action throughout but thought he could have done even more.

When asked to comment after the fight,
Broner said that all great champions have to lose at one point of their professional careers. It makes them more experienced and smarter. He added that the results of the fight will not jeopardize his out of the ring relationship with porter.
Porter on the other side, said that it felt good to fight intelligently. He went on to comment that his father who doubles up as his trainer wanted a fast fight, but Porter chose to take things slow.
This fight saw the end of Broner’s winning streak. His three consecutive winning run was thrashed last night. But he gave us a hell of a performance, He managed to prove to the world that he is still a force to reckon on in the welterweight division. That he can stand on his two legs up to the final whistle against a fighter of potter’s quality.
