Broner vs Allakhverdiev

Adrien Broner won the fourth title in his career. In all honesty, the entire fight was quite mismatched. In the pre match interview,Allakhverdiev was talking big. His fans and everyone else had been expecting him to put up more of a fight, especially considering this was a title opportunity. Thus, his performance during the entire fight was not what was expected. Allakhverdiev looked like he just did not know how to use his fists. However, he did win a few rounds, which is quite debatable. In the first two rounds, both fighters seemed to be sizing each other up. In the third and fourth rounds,Allakhverdiev tried to put in a few jabs, which looked weak and lacked any power. The entire fight was generally boring; essentially, one would have expected a more energetic fight. It did not look like there was a title on the line. Throughout the entire fight,Broner appeared to be having fun with Allakhverdiev.

Even though Broner went in to the fight as a favorite, I think the spectators were expecting Allakhverdiev to put up more of fight. This is especially considering that Broner just lost recently on his last fight. At one point, that was in the eighth round. Allakhverdiev’s trainer told him he was going to throw in the towel if he did not see more from him. However, Allakhverdiev decided he could soldier on and went back into the ring. Honestly, it was surprising that Broner did not seize the opportunity to win through a knockout. Everything about Allakhverdiev looked sloppy. His movements and even the way he threw his punches; it was all slow and uncoordinated. I believe that if Broner had wanted to, he could have finished the fight earlier on in the sixth or seventh round.

Generally, it was a sad day for Allakhverdiev’s fans. However, they should thank their lucky stars the fight did not end in a knock out. Eventually, Broner won through a TKO when the referee decided Allakhverdiev had taken enough of a beating. Even if the referee had allowed the match to go on, there were just a few rounds remaining. It would not have been possible for Allakhverdiev to turn things around. Broner, who had lost his last fight against Porter, really needed this win. On the other hand,Allakhverdiev had not been in a professional fight for almost two years. In the post-fight interview, Broner challenged Ashley Theophane to a fight. This is expected to be another easy win for Broner, considering that Theophane is quite old.
