Juan Francisco Estrada vs Hernan Tyson Marquez
Estrada goes into the match with a 32-2 win-loss record which includes 23 knock outs. In 2012, he turned many heads by giving Roman Gonzalez perhaps his stiffest test till date despite being only 22 years old at the time. He has won six straight since then, including a decision over Brian Viloria & a savage beating of the brutal Giovani Segura. On the other hand Marquez who has a 39-5 win-loss record with 28 KOs & 1 draw seems to be in a bit of a decline. The 27 year old suffered knock-out losses to Brian Viloria, Giovani Segura & Mcjoe Arroyo in the last three years. Adding to his woes he only managed a draw against Ricardo Roman last December. The defeat to Segura was particularly troubling, as Marquez left the ring on a stretcher after nearly 12 full rounds of war. Segura has the kind of power which can take years of the opponent’s career. Estrada the younger of the two is an inch taller at 5’4″ & has a greater reach which will be a key factor. Estrada also has a higher KO% as most of the odds seem to be stacked in his favour. Estrada uses an Orthodox stance & Marquez will have the southpaw stance.
“I want to thank God for this new opportunity to fight for a world title. I’m convinced it’s a great fight against a great champion, but I feel very confident,” Marquez said during a press conference. He also mentioned that despite the fact that many people are not giving him a chance, he would use it to motivate himself & come up with a great fight. Marquez anticipates no issue with getting down to 112 pounds. Estrada meanwhile is hoping to continue his winning streak in this all Mexican battle.
Marquez still has the skills, power & agility but it is likely that Estrada is going to hurt him bad. To find out we have to wait till the 26th of September bout “Juan Francisco Estrada vs Hernan Marquez”.
