Cotto was reported to have said “No conditions were put on Canelo. I let them know what, I believe, I am worthy of and earned the right to do so throughout the boxing career. Now the balls lie in the opponent’s court and they are to decide what they want to do.”

Sources confirmed that the negotiations were in progress at its own pace. As the process is a delicate and cumbersome one, it would take a take little time which could not be avoided.

Asked about the specific place of the blockbuster fight, sources close to the negotiators said that both Las Vegas and Texas are in consideration and New York is also not excluded from the list of probable venues. It is still open as to where the fight actually will be and once there is consensus on the major points the venue will be finalized easily.
