August 24, 2019 Sergey Kovalev vs Anthony Yarde at Traktor Sport Palace, Chelyabinsk for the following titles:
World Boxing Organisation World Light Heavy Title
Eurasian Boxing Parliament Light Heavy Title
Undefeated Knock Out Artist Anthony Yarde Challenges Sergey Kovalev for the World Boxing Organisation World Light Heavy Title it was a intriguing match, but Kovalev’s durability and Experience prevails as he defeated the Challenger via 11th round TKO.
Just what Andre Ward predicted months before the fight Anthony Yarde was not ready yet to face someone in Kovalev’s caliber, Last year Kovalev was defeated by Eleider Alvarez by TKO, but earlier this year more focused Kovalev avenged his lost and defeated Alvarez by Decision.
Athony Yarde puts up a very good fight he even hurt Kovalev in the 8th round but the challenger failed to finish the champ.
Sergey Kovalev’s experience made him survived the round and take out Yarde in the 11th round. Kovalev caught Yarde with a left jab, we’ve seen it before Kovalev was able to knock out opponents with his jab although the punch that landed on Yarde on 11th round doesn’t seems strong enough to knock him out, Yarde was very fatigue at this point of the fight and if he was able to get up and continue Kovalev will surely finish him off in the remaining seconds of the round.
What’s next for Anthony Yarde?
Yarde should go back to the drawing board and figure out what went wrong in this fight I think he had stamina issue in this fight. Stamina essential especially when you are in fighting the distance. Yarde was used to finish his opponent early because of his tremendous punching power, but this time he met someone who can take his punches and someone who won’t go down with single power shot.
What’s next for Kovalev?
There is a rumor that Sergey Kovalev will be facing Mexican star Canelo Alvarez next, This could be the biggest payday for Kovalev. Like in his past fight they called Canelo the “Catch Weight King” I hope they won’t make another catch weight if the fight happened. I think Canelo will be facing the biggest puncher in his boxing career. If they are not going to weight drain Kovalev I think Canelo will surely bit more what he could chew in this fight the bigger and stronger Kovalev will knock him out just my opinion guys.
