Terence Crawford vs Dierry Jean Fight Replay

This weekend’s boxing brings together two fighters on HBO World Championship Boxing on Saturday. The recently crowned super light-weight champion, Terence Crawford who is undefeated sees off Dierry Jean who has lost just once in his career. However, all the odds tend to be against Jean. This event will be hosted in Omaha, Nebraska although the Midwestern city has never been a boxing hotbed.

Crawford announced himself as one of the biggest boxing young stars when he eliminated Thomas Dulorme in Round 6 to capture the then vacant WBO belt. Crawford’s undefeated run brings about speculations of him replacing Floyd Mayweather at the top of American Boxing. In fact, rumors suggest that he is a possible opponent for Manny Pacquiao’s return in 2016. His best attributes in the ring include switching orthodox to southpaw, moving elegantly around the ring, quick and hard punches, and defending slickly. As statistics suggest, Crawford is one of the few fighters who exhibit no real transition between defending and attacking.

Crawford looks best placed to emerge the winner in the fight. He has fought 26 fights, losing none and winning 18 by knockouts. His 2015 campaign has been exemplary good since his breakout in 2014, earning him the unbeaten two-division champ of the Year honor.
Jean, the Montreal boxer, on the other hand is a hard-nosed opponent who has only lost once in his career.
In this fight, he gets a second opportunity on a title belt after losing to Peterson in January 2014. He first got noticed when he caused ripples on cable television by beating “Mookie” Pendarvis in 2013. However, since then after dropping to the light weight division, Jean has won four straight fights. This fight brings Jean the opportunity to rise back up in weight.

Jean has a sharp overhand right, and statistics show that he is more active than Crawford. He throws 59.1 punches per round as compared to Crawford’s 53.2. He also averages 10 more power punch attempts in each stanza in spite of Crawford throwing more jabs.
Jean is expected to come high and hard on Crawford in the first rounds. However, if he allows Crawford to settle into the fight, the tenor will change. Crawford will gradually control the fight with his jab as well as dictate the terms of meaningful exchanges. Eventually, as he often does, Crawford will start landing more number of surgical combinations.

Therefore, this is a tough fight for both contenders as they look to improve on their records. It will surely be a compelling and skillfully contested bout.
